La sección de consulta automatizada en las bibliotecas universitarias del siglo XXI: propuesta de actividades virtuales

Abstract

The University is a place dedicated to reflection, teaching and research. Therefore, the libraries that compose it should provide reference services with quality, timeliness and accesability to meet the information needs of users. Because of the importance that the automated reference section has for university activities, consistent with the current information and communication technologies, this paper proposes the activities and functions that can be performed from the virtual perspective for the automated reference section, that are in parallel with those developed in situ.
The objectives to upgrade the automated reference section are presented: the justification to implement the proposed activities is exposed; finally, the proposed activities for the automated reference service, from the virtual perspective, are developed.
