Abstract

This paper reviews the experience of the General Directorate for Libraries of the National Council for Culture and Arts (2007-2009) in the area of modernization of public libraries in Mexico, by recounting the programs undertaken and their results obtained, and comparing and enriching them with the specialized literature, as well as a diagnosis and a strategic planning with the support from experts in Library Science.
