Abstract

The beginning of the Baja California Library Association (ABIBAC) dates back with a series of academic events which took place in this state since 1989, such as: Training Workshops in Library Science, Certified Course on Electronic Systems and Processes applied to Information Management in Libraries; the courses on Evaluation of Scientific Journals and Theory and Methods of Information and Reference Services, as well as courses on Planning and Organization of Library Services; the latter taught by Lic. César Augusto Ramírez Velázquez, who as a final paper asked for a project titled “Project on Training and Updating for the Library Staff in Baja California”, which allowed for scheduling a series of meetings that ended up with the formal constitution of ABIBAC on March 19th, 2003.
