Text mining: a current view

Abstract

Nowadays, due to the social, economic and academic activities, together with the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), knowledge production and digital information is generated increa- singly faster and sometimes accumulates in huge volumes of information, pending for proper processing. Areas such as data mining and text mining are used in the automated processing of information, which provide the ability to scan large amounts of data or text, structured and unstructured, to look for patterns, find relationships and extract knowledge. The purpose of this article is to show the features and applications of text mining as an emerging area of digital information processing.
