¿Qué es eso de epistemología de la bibliotecología y qué papel protagónico tiene para nuestra profesión?

Abstract

We present, first, some key concepts to bear in mind when we think about the Epistemology of Library Science; then we discuss about the Scope that it has in relation to the what, why and how of objects of study and research, validity criteria, methods, fundamentals and the terminology unit, as central elements to the construction of knowledge in Library Science and that, once restructured, to validate and legitimize Librarianship as a science. At the same time, we talk about the role played by Epistemology in relation to the library profession and - finally - an outline as a conclusion is presented, in which the relationships and interrelationships of each of the elements mentioned in the text are displayed.
