Contribución científica de México a la psicología entre los años 1995-2008 con base en el Social Sciences Citation Index de ISI Web of Knowledge

Abstract

The scientific activity is mainly reflected through journals, since this is the way that scientists use to communicate the results of their research. The desire to quantify and evaluate the scientific productivity of different areas of knowledge leads to bibliometric studies, which are very useful to understand the evolution of scientific research. This paper presents the results of a study on the scientific productivity of Mexico on psychology according to the Social Sciences Citation Index of ISI Web of Knowledge, between 1995 and 2008. The goal is to present the productivity of authors and institutions in this field. The reason for selecting this database for this study is based on the international prestige that Thomson Reuters has, due to the rigor with which it selects and maintains the journal titles included in their indexes.
