Abstract

In the second half of the 18th century, the library of the Convent of Saint Francis of Mexico City was a stage of the experimentation realized by a friar, to whom the librarian’s tasks had been assigned. Friar Francisco Antonio de la Rosa Figueroa, taken by his religious zeal, tackled the control of the library to avoid the heresy, though very soon his works took him for the ways of the library organization. As result of his efforts, he left valuable instruments of organization that today are an evidence of a past of the Mexican librarianship that still remains unknown. In this work, we give news of these instruments of organization.
