Abstract

Various reflections on the changes that are occurring in the cataloguing process are described, in order to pay attention to the consistent presentation of bibliographic data and assigning the access point, issues that are considered the most important criteria in the quality control of cataloguing. This consistence has been favored by the International Cataloguing Principles, the conceptual models of the Functional Requirements and the guidelines on Resource Description and Access. An important point is that the changes in the various regulations have provided the information professional a basis to judge, from the standpoint of Library Science, bibliographic data and its positioning in the Semantic Web environment.
