Between Tradition and Experience: Transformation of Library Spaces in the Digital Era

The future, functions and characteristics that the library institution should have in the 21st century has been discussed from various perspectives and professional fields, for several years. In this way, the present paper set, as an objective, to explore the current situation and trends in the use, design and construction of libraries, through an analysis of the current literature that refers to the subject in question. As a result, there is a need for library buildings to have a high degree of flexibility to offer a range of differentiated spaces, and thus, to respond to the needs of the current communities, whose behavior has been significantly modified due to the use of information and communication technologies.Downloads
