The following research introduces the problem of sustainable development and how this trend has been linked to libraries. In order to illustrate this point, several studies with the idea of applying this approach in different libraries are presented, leading to the emergence of green libraries, which are libraries designed to minimize the negative impact on the environment. This should provide an overview for understanding how the idea of sustainable development has been carried out in Yucatan. To achieve this, a series of interviews with the staff of five libraries, located in Merida city are made. The results show that libraries in Yucatan still have a long way to go to achieve a sustainable development. However, they are already taking the first steps to this path.Downloads
