Abstract

Information literacy must be part of the body of knowledge and experience, that is, the background gathered by all individuals over the years; however, social conditions, age, gender or schooling often prevent it. The university students are considered techno savvy, however, they do not know how to approach the information, assess its validity, its use and how to prepare the necessary documents for the accreditation of the subjects that they study. University libraries, on the other hand, do not get involved in one of the substantive functions of the university: teaching. Therefore, it is thus urgent that the librarians participate in the construction of information skills of students, in addition to contribute to the development of training research in institutions of higher education.
