Abstract

We present a profile of Armando Sandoval Caldera, a Mexican scientist who made important contributions to scientific research in the fields of tropical medicine and parasitology. But, above all, he showed a great passion for the dissemination of knowledge and, in this sense, he made great contributions to librarianship, to the visibility of the Latin American scientific production and the organization and dissemination of scientific information. He was a forger of the General Directorate for Libraries (DGB) and the Center for Scientific and Humanistic Information (CICH). Like all men of science he was an extraordinary and multifaceted being, with a great mind and restless spirit; he taught for almost thirty years and also showed a great interest in ecology, the arts and culture.
