Study of the source funds of the “Biblioteca Palafoxiana” in the city of Puebla, Mexico

Abstract

This paper contains the research results of the collection of the “Biblioteca Palafoxiana”, covering the fifteenth century to part of the twentieth century, carried out from 2013 to 2015. It shows the results of the analysis of the complete library collection. A statistical technique was applied including a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the collection data. Such results show the data in question and the comparative statistics by year of publication, frequency of publication, gender analysis of the authors, a comparison between titles and vo- lumes, places of publication and editing, the topics of greater impact, the main languages in which they were published, special bibliographic features, leading publishers and printers, as well as fire marks and property ex libris, which provide a very complete idea of the funds that gave rise to the current library.
