Reflections of nursing professionals on the current pandemic and libraries

Abstract

Objective: Reflect on the library environment in the COVID–19 scenario.
Development: The pandemic caused by the SARS-COV2 coronavirus has caused the physical closure of libraries, but their professionals have offered their services thanks to the Internet, through different digital platforms. This has accelerated the socio-historical evolution of the library environment, transforming in a short time the meaning, organization, roles of its participants and the incorporated technologies, substantial elements to respond to the COVID–19 pandemic. The virtual spaces welcomed the public to provide knowledge-generating resources, but also to provide recreation and comfort within physical distancing. Faced with this co COVID vid–19 scenario, the nurses who, together with the health team, are providing the public with up-to-date care, supported with the online information that the libraries have made available and have emerged as central axes for their protection. Conclusion: With the new normal library environments will not be the same: they will be trans- formed thanks to that resilience that has characterized them, guaranteeing health security, preserving themselves with new proposals to satisfy the requirements of the different generations of users, along with nursing professionals who are faithful to their mystique of care based on evidence-based knowledge, and will continue to promote actions for the disciplinary empowerment within a scenario of continuous transformation.
